Infant & Child CPR:

A perfect CPR course for parents, grandparents, babysitters, and child caregivers. Participants will learn skills to recognize and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies in infants (birth to one year) and children (one year to eight years).

Adult CPR:

Focusing on the adult victim (eight years old and up), this course provides comprehensive single-rescuer training in CPR skills-response to choking, rescue breathing, recognition and prevention of heart attacks and strokes, and more.

First Aid Basics:

Participants will learn to recognize an emergency, learn care skills for bleeding, sudden illness, bites, burns and injuries.

First Aid with Adult CPR:

Participants will learn to recognize an emergency, learn care skills for bleeding, sudden illness, bites, burns and injuries. The course will also cover aid for conscious and unconscious victims, breathing, choking and cardiac emergencies.

Community First Aid & Safety: (Adult, Child, Infant CPR and First Aid)

A 9 hour course which teaches how to recognize breathing and cardiac emergencies for Adults, Children, and Infants (Community CPR) and how to identify and care for life threatening bleeding, sudden illness and injuries.

CPR/AED  for the Professional Rescuer:

A 9 hour course designed for the individuals that have a duty to respond to emergencies, this course gives you the confidence and the skills you need to provide care for victims of cardiac and respiratory emergencies. Participants will learn two rescuer CPR, precautions to prevent disease transmission, use of resuscitation and bag valve masks.

Emergency Responses:

A 56-hour course training individuals in recognizing and caring for breathing and cardiac emergencies. for Adults, Children, & Infants using two-rescuer CPR and bag-valve mask. Designed for individuals with job- related duties to act in an emergency. These individuals often called "First Responders" include but are not limited to fire fighters, law enforcement personnel, lifeguard, emergency response teams, etc. Prerequisite is CPR for Professional Rescuer. Certification expires three years from date of issue.

Protect Your Back:

A 4 hour preventive course which teaches: Basic anatomy; methods for protecting the back for overall fitness, correct posture, ergonomics, (using ones surroundings wisely at home and in the workplace), practice in moving objects properly and exercises to strengthen muscles and increase flexibility. Certification expires three years from date of issue.

Babysitting Safety :

A 7 hour course which teaches how to handle emergencies, prevent accidents, and the knowledge for competent Babysitting. Students also learn job hunting skills, and personal safety to protect themselves and the children in their care.

Preventing Disease Transmission:

A 2 hour course to train employees who may come in contact with infectious materials as part of their job regarding safe workplace practices; emergency and follow-up procedures; and preventing disease transmission for blood borne infections, such as hepatitis B virus and HIV. Participants receive "Has Attended" Certificate: Course addresses OSHA regulations for training and blood borne pathogens.

HIV\AIDS Education:

HIV affects us all. You, your loved ones, and people in your community. We need to ban together in this fight Break the Silence. Learn the facts regarding HIV, Share the facts, Spread the facts. With a single call of 505-325-9605 you can schedule a presentation for your group or workplace. Trained instructors will provide unbiased HIV\AIDS information and encourage participants to share their interests and concerns. A wide range of materials including video tapes and brochures supports the program. Most are resources designed to help parents, teens, children - learn the facts about HIV infection and transmission and support youth and adults in making decisions that make healthy risk-free lives.

Lifeguarding:

A 40 hour course designed to train persons 15 years of age and older in life guarding job skills. Students must have strong basic swimming skills.  The course will teach different strokes, spinal injury management, different rescue techniques, and stroke refinement. Prerequisites include knowledge of water safety and basic swimming. For additional information regarding this course, please call 505-325-9605 and ask for the Health & Safety Department.

Water Safety Instructor:

A 36 hour course designed to teach the information and skills necessary for candidates to instruct Red Cross progressive swimming classes; Basic and Emergency Water Safety, Parent and Child Aquatics. Prerequisites include American Red Cross Fundamentals of Instructor Training course, must be at least 16 years of age, Lifeguard Training certification suggested. Candidates will also be tested for stroke competency on front crawl, back crawl, sidestroke, elementary backstroke and breaststroke. First Aid, CPR and AED Instructor Course:

A 16 hour course to train individuals to instruct First Aid and Adult, Child & Infant CPR and Community First Aid & Safety, through the American Red Cross. Prerequisites include basic CPR and first aid skills as well as and Fundamentals of Instructor Training course certificate. Must be at least 17 years of age. Fundamentals of Instructor Training (FIT):

A 6 hour course to train instructor candidates in fundamental teaching skills, instructor responsibilities, Red Cross policies & procedures.

**This course is required by all American Red Cross course entry level instructor candidates before completion of specialty course training.**

Registration Policy:

Because a strict instructor to student ratio must be maintained, all course enrollments are on a pre-registration basis. You may do this in person or by mail. If you enroll by mail, a complete fee must accompany your course registration form. We should receive your full enrollment no later than 1 week prior the beginning date of the course. If the course is full, or cancelled due to lack of registration, we can move you into the next date of your choice, or we will refund your fees.

Cancellation Policy:

The American Red Cross reserves the right to cancel any course at any time because of insufficient enrollment or other administrative reasons. Full refunds are made for courses cancelled by the American Red Cross, or we can move you into the next date of your choice. No refunds are given to No-Show students. Every effort is made to contact students for a cancelled course.
